We might be in lockdown but that does that mean that we can’t celebrate VE day 2020 at home in style. Faced with a bank holiday of staying at home and social distancing adding a a few simple celebration ideas into the mix can lift everyone’s spirits.

Friday 8th May

11.15am – VE Day 75 Live Stream – watch a live stream of the WW2 generation and today’s generation sharing their experiences including Dame Vera Lynn and Dame Joan Collins. Click here for more details.

12 noon – Dance for VE Day – join Nancy Hitzig and English Heritage for a Lindy Hop dance tutorial on Facebook. Click here to join.

2.45pm – Listen to Winston Churchill’s victory speech when he announced the end of WW2 in Europe along side a specially made film on BBC.

3pm – The Nation’s Toast – Raise a glass to the World War 2 generation on your doorstep.

5pm – Dance for VE Day with Lindy Hop Dance Troupe and Band – join Nancy Hitzig and English Heritage and dance along to the favourite music from the era.

5.30pm – Great British Home Chorus for a VE Day special – join Gareth Malone for a national sing along. Click here to join in.

9pm – Her Majesty the Queen addresses the nation at the same time her father King George made his address to the nation in 1945
